The study concerns the expansion and total redesign of the existing Sun Beach All Sun Hotel, with large-scale addition of rooms and common areas, upgrading it to a 5* unit and redefining the concept of luxury experienced by the guests through comfort and wellness.
The central idea and design principles of the architectural proposal aim at dynamic integration into the environment. The wings containing the rooms are inscribed on organic curves which allow for an unrestricted view from all the buildings towards the sea, the greenery and the pool, while at the same time ensuring the desired privacy. The existing buildings are an integral part of the composition, following the same principle, while being modified to be integrated into the new identity of the complex.
The hotel is developed in 9 buildings of which 2 are existing. The interiors stand out for their dynamics and their special character while the reception area is dominated by the circular atrium with the element of water, plants and sand.
In addition to the reception area, the common areas include the dining room, the wellness areas, the sports & recreation areas and the swimming pools for public or private use. The central swimming pool of a total area of almost 1,000 sq.m. follows the organic lines of the buildings while within the pool a planted island is created.
The Mediterranean plants, the olive grove to the south of the hotel with the herb garden, the rough coatings, the local stone, the wood, the colors and textures create feelings and powerful experiences reminiscent of Crete and approach the human existence and scale.
The dialogue with nature, the relationship between inside and outside, the sense of neighborhood, the play of light and shadow, revive and create memories of Greece and provide a unique emotional experience that reflects the landscape, time and place.
